Elysian was founded by volunteers determined to provide a quality
public education alternative to the Hoboken community. To this day, the school
calls on the continued dedication of parents to fulfill its mission.

Parent Volunteers
There are many reasons why volunteerism is so important at Elysian. Parents
founded The Elysian Charter School, and the school’s Board of Trustees continues
to be comprised, primarily, of Elysian parents.
Volunteering is a rewarding way to be involved in the educational life of your children; your children— and the school—will benefit. When parents volunteer in the classroom, they have an opportunity to understand how and why we do what we do at Elysian—they are exposed to our beliefs about teaching and learning, and acquire knowledge about what we value
