Carol's Corner...

I would like to personally invite 4th and 5th grade parents to our specially scheduled Middle School Evening, just for you!  As I move around the school, I've been listening to some parents' concerns about whether or not to keep their children at Elysian for grades 6, 7 and/or 8.

One of my goals, since my arrival here at Elysian, is to make sure that we provide a top-notch education to our students through all the years up to graduation in the eighth grade.  Although I now know that many of our parents have been pleased with their children's middle school education, there may always be some of you with questions.

I hope you will join us on Wednesday evening, April 2 at 6:30 PM.  Childcare will be provided.  We will meet in Diane's room in the RUE building.  See you then.

Sincerely,

Carol

Nominating Committee Report

We have been asked to give a brief re-cap of the Annual Meeting and voting results. This year, we had 127 members cast ballots out of a possible 253. In the past two years; we had 133 and 140 total votes cast. This means that approximately 50% of our membership traditionally votes in the Annual Election.

The results of the election were as follows:

Kristen Jordan-118

Joan Abel-92

Susan Shaw-90

Josie Buonsanto-81

Donna Olah-Reiken- 78

Richard Kurland-58

As you all heard during Frank Musumici, Board Chair’s speech, the Nominating Committee is one of the Board committees that is open to the general membership. As defined in our charter; trustees are elected by a vote of families in the school and employees of the charter school, with each family and employee casting one vote. I invite parents and staff to join the Nominating Committee next year. It would be great to have more members and hopefully achieve a goal of higher than 50% participation in our election process!!
