Board of Trustees Election – Nominations accepted thru Monday!
Elysian’s nominating committee is accept-ing nominations for our upcoming Board of Trustees election on March 18, 2008. If
you are interested in running, please adhere to the following guidelines:
Nominations will be accepted through January 28th at 3pm. If you are interested in running, pick up an info packet from John Mercado (Rue office).
It is crucial that once you have decided to run you must call or stop by to leave your name, email address and phone number. Any qualified individual may run for the Board (employees of Elysian or spouses of employees may not run). You need not be formally nominated by someone else. It is perfectly okay to nominate yourself.
Trustees need not be parents or guardians of Elysian students. We would love to recruit some members of the greater community to run for our Board. If you know of anyone who might be interested, particularly someone with a background in education, real estate or fundraising or who is interested in Charter Schools, please put them in touch with us. We are happy to answer any questions.
If you have questions or are unsure about the role of a Board member is, please contact the Nominating Committee. (Melissa Landera (201)876-0102 ext 11 melhalli@aol.com or Kathy Prussack (201)420-0692, kathy_prussack@yahoo.com.)
Nominations will not be accepted after 3pm on Monday, January 28th. The slate of nominees will then be presented to the present Board. The slate will include any nominees who have followed this procedure.
Save the Dates:
The PTSO “Meet and Greet the Candidates” is scheduled for March 11
The Annual Meeting is March 18, 2008.
Mardi Gras News
from Friends of Elysian
Our annual Mardi Gras fundraiser is just a few days away!
For those of you who have tickets, we are excited you’ll be joining us. For those who need tickets, please contact Donna Olah-Reiken at donnaor@optonline.net to purchase tickets ($35 each). You may also buy tickets at the door for $40 each.
We have amassed a terrific list of auction items; we are so grateful to our parents, teachers, business associates and other friends who have contributed so generously to this important fundraiser.
With your help, it’s likely we’ll exceed our fundraising goals. All donors will be listed in the event program, so please
remember to join us in thanking them for their generosity.
Attached to this newsletter, you will find a partial list of the items that we have up for bid in the silent auction. We have three auctions taking place at the event –a silent auction, a paper bag auction and a mystery bag auction. While it’s impossible to list all 200 items we have between the three auctions, we hope the attached list contains something you would be willing to purchase to benefit our school. Everyone ends up a winner during the night and we wish you luck as you participate in our auctions.
Items can be paid for by cash, credit card or check, so bring them all! In addition, please note there is no rain or snow date for this adults-only event. The show will go on!
We are looking forward to seeing you all on Saturday in the
OLG auditorium.
