Enrollment
Admission Process & Timeline
The admissions process is handled by an Enrollment Coordinator in partnership with the Elysian Charter School Outreach Committee (which is comprised of parents, staff and Board members) the Administration and the Board of Trustees. The coordinator oversees the issuing of lottery numbers, open houses, conducts tours, and plans the end of year orientation for incoming students and their families.

September
Enrollment coordinator begins taking calls about enrollment for the upcoming school year. Names and addresses of interested families are collected.

October
A mailing is sent out to interested families regarding the lottery date, upcoming tours and open houses. Letters are also sent to previous applicants alerting them that they must reapply for the next school year before the lottery.

November
Lottery registration forms are made available from the school office and on-line at www.ecsnj.org. Advertisements announcing the lottery process are placed in local papers. The ads include information about the lottery and weekly Wednesday morning tours. As lottery registration forms are received by the enrollment coordinator, lottery numbers are issued (by mail) to the applicants.

January
Deadline for submission of lottery registration forms is normally by the second week in January for the following school year. The public lottery is normally held within the week after the lottery registration form deadline.

After the January Lottery
Families whose numbers are selected in the lottery for the open spots within all grades are notified by mail within two weeks of the lottery drawing. Families are asked to commit to enrollment as soon as possible (and certainly by June) so the enrollment coordinator can inform others that they have been wait listed.

The Elysian waiting list (especially for Kindergarten) can be long, however there have been years where up to 10-15 families on the wait list for Kindergarten are admitted during the summer months. As spots become available during the school year, families who are on the wait list will be contacted.
