Elysian Middle School students win 3rd place, documentary Competition
As part of Aram’s Middle School documentary seminar, students entered C-Span’s annual video documentary competition, StudentCam. C-Span asked middle and high school students “Which issue in this presidential campaign year is of greatest importance to you?”
We are proud to announce that the video made by Shanice Brentano, Sybil Lynch, and Nick Sexton, The Iraqi Conflict: Sunnis, Shiites and Kurds won 3rd place!
The top 27 winning videos will be broadcast beginning April 1. Elysian’s video will be broadcast on April 2nd.
All 92 winning videos will be available
on line for streaming or downloading at www.studentcam.org.
There was 1 Grand Prize winner, 2 First Prize winners, 8 Second Prize winners, 16 Third Prize winners and 65 Honorable Mentions. In all, C-Span awarded $50,000 in prize money.

Square One Art Volunteers Needed
Square One Art ends on February 29th and we need volunteers to distribute the take home packs. Please contact Tracey Calvanico or Jen Nielsen to help.
Meet the Board of Trustees Candidates on March 11, 2008: Don’t miss this opportunity to ask questions and hear what the candidates have to say before the
March 18 vote.
PTSO Seeking Vice President and Secretary for Next Year: Serving as a PTSO officer is a great way to get more involved in your child’s school. Please speak with Tracey Calvanico if interested.
Spring Rummage Sale Around the Corner: The May 10th ECS Rummage Sale will be here before you know it.
We need volunteers to staff the PTSO table and help to make the day go smoothly. Please think about whether or not you or someone you know may want to be a vendor and buy a spot around
the park to sell merchandise.
