||ELYSIAN HAS A NEW HOME!
—Harry Laub, PhD.
On Monday night, February 23rd the Elysian Charter School Board of Trustees voted to sign a 30-year lease on a brand new home for the Elysian Charter School at 1415 Park Avenue in Hoboken. President Eduardo Gonzalez signed that lease this morning in the name of Elysian Charter School of Hoboken.
BIT Investment 61, LLC is the new landlord. Bijou Properties is the builder. A big thank you goes out to all of the members of the Elysian community who have worked so hard to make this happen, beginning in 2007. Also, a huge thanks to Larry Bijou and David Gaber of Bijou Properties for supporting charter school education and helping us come to an affordable agreement that will provide us with our new, long term home.
Our expectation is that the building will be ready for the 2015-2016, school year, but there is still a lot to be done. Along with the Elysian Board of Trustees, I will continue to update you with details on our progress. But, in the meantime we need your help.
The Friends of Elysian has been a long term supporter of this project, raising funds for this day since 2007. Thank you to so many of you who have contributed to the Friends' past fundraising campaigns, which are now providing us with the resources to move into this new space.
Now that we have secured a new home for our school, I implore you to come out to the Friends Fundraising Cocktail Party on Friday night (tickets available at www.friendsofelysian.org) and contribute to the Friends 2015 Capital Appeal Campaign,which will officially kick off at the party. Can’t make the date? Then please consider purchasing additional lottery tickets and stay tuned for more information about the Appeal and how you can contribute moving forward.
Thank you for your support! Elysian Charter School has just crossed an exciting milestone and with this new home, our future as a positively different public school is brighter than ever.
